The invisible Medical Team

Learn about who and how they provide the medical background of the sessions.

Here we show you who provides the medical background of the camp and how they do it.

The foundation’s medical team consists of a specialist doctor, two specialist nurses and a dietitian. They help in recruiting and coordinating the Medical Cimboras (qualified doctors, nurses, dieticians and physiotherapists) and with their specialized knowledge they prepare and train the medical volunteers for the work in camp. They also train all the volunteers, so they will know how to deal with the ill children, and the medical team also shares with them the most important information about each disease group.

The Medical Cimboras provide comprehensive medical care to the campers throughout the whole session, they also arrange their further transport to the hospital if needed. During the day, they are also present at the programmes away from the medical building (for example, the archery range or the high-ropes course) to pay special attention to the campers. In addition, there is a night watch, by this we provide 24-hour medical oversight in the camp.

And what makes them invisible? They are present in the camp on the programmes in a way you wouldn’t recognise. Sometimes they dress up in costumes and play in the same way as the other volunteers, for example they also participate in the evening chats. Thus their presence is almost unnoticeable to the campers.

Upon arrival, campers go through a medical check-in in the medical building, where the medical staff and camper(s) and their parents discuss the most important information about the camper’s health condition. Doctors, nurses, and if necessary a dietitian and a physiotherapist is also involved in this process. The medical staff takes care of the medication of the child.
