As the recreational therapy centre of the Central European region, Bátor Tábor has been hosting seriously ill children, not only from Hungary, but also from the Czech Republic, Poland, and Slovakia since 2008.
Our Czech and Slovak campers are coming from 2-2 cities, and the Polish children are already coming to the wonderland of Hatvan from 8 cities, accompanied by our volunteers. International camps have become an exciting highlight of the foundation’s life, as the one-week session provide space for unique cultural encounters.
In the joint Slovak and Czech camps in addition to the Hungarian Cimboras (volunteers), the programmes are assisted by Slovak or Czech and Hungarian-speaking interpreter volunteers, and in our Polish camp – in addition to the work of Polish interpreters who act as a bridge between the children and the volunteers – English is the common language.
Therefore, at the end of August, the camp is full of enthusiastic Cimboras from all over the world. In such a camp up to 15 languages can be present, as our regular guests can come from outside Europe, like the United States, Canada or African and Asian countries. A Cimbora from Canada has been travelling to Hungary for many years only for the Camp.
